If retrograde access is blocked or narrow, a ureter stone can also be reached via a puncture in the pyelocaliceal system. Here you see a stone in the proximal ureter approached that way. The effect of respiration is seen. Sometimes it can be an advantage to use the movement; sometimes it can be helpful to stop respiration for some time to be able to treat it without this movement.
